Leah came such a long way in her development

Leah does not meet her developmental milestones in assigned time. She did not start walking till nearly 3.

She is still non verbal and I am facing sleepless nights worrying about whether it is the sign of a serious problem.

We all know that childhood and growing is not a race, yet we still panic when we feel that our kids are not reaching thr key milestones.

So here’s the problem: the more you focus on whether or not your child is “within the standards”, the more you are likely to notice and worry about their development delays.

Unfortunately, there is no quick answer or a golden rule that would address the issue of why does my child have developmental delays?

Science says that these delays may be hereditary, culture-based, environmental, or even based on children’s unique personality traits.

Although as every parent does you want your child to do their best. Just remember that development milestones often fail to take into account children’s unique personalities.

Although it was hard for me to accept that Leah is different. I have accepted her for who she is.

She has so much love to give, she is playful, She is excellent at expressing her needs non verbally, she lights up a room with her presence and she has her own little character.

I love her with all my heart and would not change her for the world. I am proud of what she achieved and how far she has come.

Appreciate what you got and accept your kids for who they are. ❤️
